1. Build Your Timeline Around the Photos You Want
One of the biggest mistakes couples make is creating their entire wedding timeline first and thinking about photography and video afterward.
Your timeline directly affects what we're able to capture.

428 Tip: Add a little breathing room between major parts of your day. A wedding almost never runs exactly on schedule, and that extra time helps us keep your photos relaxed instead of rushed.
2. Pay Attention to Lighting
Lighting can completely transform your wedding photos and video.
When you're planning your ceremony, portraits and reception, think about what the light will look like at that time of day.
One of our favorite times for couple portraits is golden hour, shortly before sunset. The light becomes softer and warmer, giving us a completely different look than portraits taken in harsh midday sunlight.
That doesn't mean your entire wedding needs to revolve around sunset.
Sometimes all we need is 10–15 minutes.
We can step away from the reception with you, capture a beautiful set of portraits, and have you back celebrating with everyone before they even notice you're gone.
428 Tip: Ask your photographer what time sunset will be on your wedding date and build a small portrait window around it.
3. Decide What You Want to Remember—not Just What You Want Photographed
Pinterest boards and shot lists can be helpful, but your wedding shouldn't feel like one giant photoshoot.
Think about the moments you actually want to remember 5, 10 or 30 years from now.
Maybe it's:
Your dad seeing you in your dress for the first time.
Your mom helping with the final details.
Your partner's reaction as you walk down the aisle.
Your grandparents dancing.
Your best friend's speech.
That five-minute moment when the two of you finally get to be alone.
